Be aware that for me writing short stories is like going to the playground. It’s all about fun and crafting. More often than not, I can’t tell you where the stories come from, sometimes I don’t even know what story I’m telling before it’s finished.
“Life Gave Me Lemons” was never intended to be a mystery, it was just a story revolving around an image inside my head of an elderly hand squeezing a lemon. I debated for a long time whether to even send it to the Margery Allingham Short Story Competition, (the biggest mystery short story competition in Europe, possibly the world) because it never felt like a mystery story for me. Luckily I did send it. It has been a great honour to be long listed for their award.
“Listen” was created after listening to radio program about a man going through the ice in his tractor. You’ll find it under “Blog” since I wrote it as an exercise in “The Playground of Writing.”
And then there’s the utterly strange “Life Distorted.” I don’t know what to say about this piece except that it was an absolute pleasure to write.
I hope you enjoy reading them, feel free to post a comment if you feel like it.
